Sorry I haven't updated until now, I didn't know the reading challenge was extended until this Friday. How come nobody told me? :(.
Well, this book is more like a diary, and is actually written by Anne Frank herself, a young girl of 15 who lived during the Holocaust. She gets her diary for her birthday (and names it Kitty...) and writes about her life's events, such as her days at school, her meals, her friends, and her days hiding. Anne and her family hide from the Nazi officers in a "secret annex" in her father's office building. From there, Anne develops a crush on one of the boys living in the annex called Peter. She also talks about her "scares" when she almost gets found by the Nazis and how she's excited to be going through puberty.
This book/ diary is very lighthearted, because it's written by a girl like Anne, but we all know what's happening outside. However, as the story progresses, the mood drops and the diary ends abruptly there, showing at which point in time...Anne and her family...had been found. :(
