THE LITTLE STRANGER

by Sarah Waters

Caroline's character was drawn so that it is hard to believe that she could be loved by anyone outside her family. Dr. Faraday is not only an unbelievable character, he is unobservant, always in denial, close-minded and selfish. His awkward love affair seems at best to be contrived and the story pushed beyond its reasonable limitations. Ms. Waters is known for wonderful story twists and surprises.
It's quite a slow start but great ending. >:)
