Carlson Gold is a hot senior who has publicly broken up with his longtime girlfriend, Emelina. He keeps moving on having fun with several girls at the party where Josie witnesses all the moans and begs for his love. She truly disgusts and scorns.
At first, Josie doesn’t believe in love. She keeps chilling out with her best friends, Tru, Zandra and Michael. Josie also enjoys working as a Tallulah the Clown, running kids’ parties and doing magic tricks. Her life is very cheerful and simple… Although sometimes, Michael and she go a bit farther than their admitted relationship, she still believes they stop at best friends.
Things really change since the moment she realizes Carlson Gold notices her. Initially, she just wants to fool around for fun however as they get to know each other more, Josie reckons she doesn’t not immune to his hidden charms. Without even giving her a call or asking her out, he gets more serious when he demands her to be his girlfriend and stop having close contacts with Michael. Josie is a stubborn girl therefore it takes her a while after some convincing to agree. At the same time, it creates so many conflicts between Josie and Michael; they *break up*… From first to last, we could see Carlson Gold is a devoted and caring boyfriend… but actually we can’t tell the future!!!
The adventure at Emelina’s grandparents’ cabin unfolds the truth, the most dreadful thing that Josie can’t face and can’t accept! HE DOES NOT LOVE HER!!! He only toys with her like cat chasing mouse. What a heart-breaking fact! In that critical situation, there is an accident happening to her mom while she is away… which intentionally brings Michael back to her. Since then, Josie values his boy-best friend and gets to appreciate their relationship more.
This book probably spread the message as “CAREFUL WHAT YOU LOVE”… To be honest, I don’t get why Carlson Gold treats Josie that way because he has deeply begged for her attention and like a snap, it turns out so ruthless. I think it’s okay to read for entertaining but I prefer a classic romance book such as “Pride and Prejudice” more since the plot has more depth.
