The book is about family issues revolving Lily’s family and relatives. There are several people in this book and everyone has their own problems. Lily, the main character, whose father left for the United States just before the time she was born. This is a thoughtful and sensible young lady, she takes care of everything in her home (from cleaning, cooking to going shopping for food and daily uses). Lily is kind of negative towards herself; she sometimes desires to be just like the other teens, hanging out, reading the magazines called “BESTIE” and maybe falling in love with some hot guys in school. To her, this dream would never come true since she takes everything just so seriously and she is always stuck in the kitchen, figuratively obsessed with meals and housework.
Lonnie is Lily’s elder brother who is away from home for university and disliked and abused by his own grandfather. Lonnie gets together with a Chinese Australian girl called Clara. It’s going to be his grandfather’s 80th birthday soon and the problem is how can he bring his girlfriend home without being humiliating and embarrassing???
The storyline bounces from one character to another to solve different family issues; it’s a charming and funny book. At the end, Lily and her family get together and have so much fun as how she always longed for… HAPPY ENDING again!
